Calvary Chapel has been formed as a fellowship of believers in the Lordship of Jesus Christ. Our supreme desire is to know Christ and be conformed to His image by the power of the Holy Spirit. We are not a denominational church, nor are we opposed to denominations as such, only to their over-emphasis of the doctrinal differences that have led to the division of the Body of Christ.

Lost Episodes in American History On June 6, 1944, President Franklin Delano Roosevelt led the nation in prayer as 160,000 American and Allied troops were storming and establishing beachheads on the coast of Normandy to liberate occupied France on D-Day. Speaking to a hushed and expectant nation, huddled around their radios, and anticipating great loss of life to gain victory, President Roosevelt declared: "My Fellow Americans: Last night, when I spoke with you about the fall of Rome, I knew at that moment that troops of the United States and our Allies were crossing the Channel in another and greater operation. It has come to pass with success thus far. And so, in this poignant hour, I ask you to join with me in prayer: "Almighty God: Our sons, pride of our nation, this day have set upon a mighty endeavor, a struggle to preserve our Republic, our religion, and our civilization, and to set free a suffering humanity. "Lead them straight and true; give strength to their arms, stoutness to their hearts, steadfastness in their faith. "They will need Thy blessings. Their road will be long and hard. For the enemy is strong. He may hurl back our forces. Success may not come with rushing speed, but we shall return again and again; and we know that by Thy grace, and by the righteousness of our cause, our sons will triumph. Heavenly Father, we honor those brave souls who stormed beaches by rushing into a hail of bullets and those who parachuted behind enemy lines to free a continent and preserve our freedom. SLOW YOUR PACE, FOLLOW THE GRACE Hearing directives from the Lord is one thing. Knowing His TIMING and ALIGNING of the promise is another. Though we may hear a clear “word of the Lord” concerning our lives, our assignments, or our commission, we must be just as certain in knowing WHEN and HOW to walk it out. The Lord is doing a work in my own life and the lives of many believers who have been getting worn out trying to accomplish a God-sent mission. Stirred by a heavenly vision, we passionately assume the time must be ripe to accomplish all He has shown us. Believing our assignment is a green light to GO, we race into our future with great anticipation only to become overwhelmed and overloaded. We quickly run out of fuel and wonder why the journey has become so hard. We often assume it’s enemy interference, but I would suggest another possibility. The Lord dropped this word into my spirit several weeks ago when I started a mini-sabbatical: “Slow your pace. Follow the grace.” It hit my heart before my head could comprehend its full meaning. It didn’t take long, however, to get an upgrade in my understanding of obedience and grace. The bottom line is that we can only accomplish what God tells us to do by a divinely commissioned GRACE for that particular assignment. This is not the same as our skills, gifts, or experience in a particular area. It is a supernatural endowment of power, peace, and anointing that will make that particular mission seem easy, natural, and life-giving. It will be an overflow from our lives, not because we are working for it, but because He has ordained it. But grace was given to each one of us according to the measure of Christ’s gift. (Eph 4:7 ESV) When God reveals His plans to His servants, He doesn’t always show us WHEN it will be fulfilled. He may reveal what He wants to do, but He doesn’t always give us a time stamp. If we don’t keep in step with His purposes on a daily basis, we can get ahead of Him and quicken our pace according to our own understanding and desire. If we assume our level of expertise or spiritual gifts will be enough, we will quickly burn out if we are not following His grace. We may believe good things are happening, but if it is costing us our peace of mind, joyful countenance, or physical health, we are not walking in His grace. We are going beyond what He has asked and are working from the flesh instead of from His Spirit. This should actually be a huge relief! Instead of being driven to reach a finish line, we can enjoy each step along the way if we stop long enough to see where Holy Spirit is leading us next. The reality is, there may be pit-stops along the way. There may be unseen shortcuts or even diversions that are heaven-sent. If we don’t posture our hearts and minds to follow His timing and methods, we’ll push our limits and totally miss the mark. Only let each person lead the life that the Lord has assigned to him, and to which God has called him. (1 Cor 7:17) SLOWING YOUR PACE means to prune your life of things that are draining you and putting pressure on the call. It means to stop comparing yourself with others and embrace your own journey, even if it seems slower. It means allowing yourself the time and space needed to keep your mind at rest and your heart free. Be willing to wait for His timing and see the assignment as a marathon and not a sprint. FOLLOWING THE GRACE means to lay down your own timetable and follow His. It means looking for those areas in your life that are bearing fruit and demonstrating God’s favor without striving for it. It means taking the time to relax, enjoy your relationships, and keep your priorities in order. When you are following His grace, there will be a supernatural flow of life, blessing, and increase, that will bring glory and attention to HIS working and not your own. Ultimately, it is not the mission that is priority. He is after US. WE are the goal of His heart, not what we do or accomplish. That which is eternal is a far cry from what we esteem and value in this life. Success in heaven’s eyes is following the Lamb, not leading Him. Even as many are feeling an urgency about engaging in public affairs, the work of the Church, and national issues, we must still remember that it all must be accomplished by His grace and not our human effort. The Father is not anxiously wringing His hands in bringing things to a conclusion. Rather, He is drawing us even closer to Himself so we can be conduits of heaven, agents of grace, and demonstrations of a higher realm. Heavenly Father, We come today as the body of Christ in this nation, to lift up our President, Donald J. Trump. As many voices rise up against this one You have set into office, we lift up our voices, with one heart and mind, to stand in agreement with heaven’s purposes concerning our nation. (Ps 133) We stand by this President who has declared this nation to be under God’s rule and authority and seeks righteousness and justice for our nation. (Ps 89:14) We welcome and embrace the fear of the Lord as the standard for all righteous rule and repent for the ways in which we have bowed to the fear of man. Cleanse our hearts and renew our minds that we may walk in the light of Your truth. (Ps 43:3) We ask that President Trump would delight in the fear of the Lord in order to walk in the power of Your might and the wisdom of Your ways. (Mi 3:8) May righteousness and faithfulness be his portion so that he may render righteous judgments according to Your Word. (Is 11:3-5) We ask that President Trump would show no fear toward the evil that assails him (Is 8:12), but rather overcome it with a zeal and passion for Your laws which bring life and liberty to all. (Pr 10:29-32) May he love Your Word and seek your wisdom diligently (Pr 8:17), remaining open and teachable to godly counsel and heaven’s wisdom. (Pr 1:7) We thank You that his heart is in Your hands and that You will direct it according to Your will and purpose. Grant him increased grace and blessing as he heeds your voice and obeys Your word. (Pr 21:1) We declare over President Trump that he will have true judgments by the Spirit and not according to man. (Is 11:3-4) We declare that he will possess heaven’s knowledge with shrewdness of mind in making right decisions for the good of the people. (Pr 8:12) Fill his mouth with good things (Pr 16:9-13) that he may speak what is true and right. (Pr 8:6) We pray that he will use his God-given authority to execute justice and establish righteousness in this land for the sake of Your glory and Kingdom. (Gen 49:10, Ps 60:7) We declare that he will rule in the midst of his enemies, not backing down or wavering due to threats or intimidation (Ps 110:1-2, Eph 6:13). May his ears become deaf to the assaults from his enemies and may those who seek his life answer to You for their wicked ways. May he know that it is Your hand and Your sovereign purpose that is keeping him and sustaining him in his divine commission. (Ps 38:12-15) Keep President Trump, and those who serve him, safe from the enemy’s snares and free from the accuser’s traps. (Ps 141:9-10) By Your great hand, Lord, deal with those who oppose righteousness and justice so that all men will know it is You alone who is sovereign and true. (Ps 64:6-9) May the fire of Your presence burn up all Your enemies and consume all those who stand against You concerning our destiny and inheritance as one nation under God. (Ps 97:1-6) Thank you, Father, for hearing our prayers and empowering us as Kingdom ambassadors on the earth. From the highest office in the land to the least known among men, may we all seek to know You more intimately, serve You more passionately, and praise You more fully so that all men will be saved. HONOR MEMORIAL DAY BY PRAYING FOR OUR MILITARY AND THEIR FAMILIES: Almighty God, We thank you for the freedom you have given to us, and for the price that was paid by Christ so that we could live free. We thank you for the brave men and women who have fought, and continue to fight, so courageously for our nation. We ask for your covering and blessing over them and their families. We pray for your great favor and goodness to be evident in their lives. Help them to be men and women of prayer, realizing that this is where their greatest help comes from. Help them to stay united and strong, bold and resolute, determined and unwavering. Thank you that in our nation today, we are free to worship. We are free to pray. We are free to read your Word. We are free to speak. We are free to share. For this, we are incredibly grateful. Yet, we understand how quickly these freedoms can be taken away. Give us an increased awareness of the spiritual battle we’re in. Help us to stand strong in you and for your purposes. We know that in you alone, true freedom is found. Father in heaven, I pray for my brothers and sisters praising Your name for them, asking You to fill their heart with worship for You today. May their primary desire always be to advance Your kingdom, wherever they happen to be, whatever they happen to be doing. May they align themselves on the earth with Your will just as surely as Your will is followed and accomplished in heaven. Provide them, I pray, with their daily bread—with everything You know is required for them to thrive and be cared for. And grant them repentance, forgiving them of their sins—even as You forgive me of mine—while also keeping their relationships free from bitterness and difficulty as they forgive those who’ve sinned against them. Please, Lord, protect them from temptation, from allowing them to be overloaded with adversity. And deliver them from all evil—from every scheme and attack of the enemy, from every weapon intended to defeat and discourage them. For Yours, Lord, is the kingdom, the power, the glory, forever. TOMORROW - MOTHERS DAY - MAY 12 The Bible says that everyone is to Honor his or her mother, and God is pleased when we take practical measures to fulfil this command. (Leviticus 19:3) LOVE MOTHER UNCONDITIONALLY. All children are called to love their mother simply because the Lord has placed her in their life. BE ATTENTIVE TO MOM’S NEEDS. Starting in infancy, a child is accustomed to taking from his or her parents. So it can be easy to forget that they have needs, too. Stop and consider what your mother might appreciate. Some women desire only that their children express gratitude or care. LIVE RIGHEOUSLY. The greatest gift we can give a godly mother is to surrender our life to Jesus Christ (Prov.23:22-25) Even a mom who isn’t a Christian will no doubt take pride in a believing child whose life radiates love, kindness, and charity. PRAY FOR MOM. Nothing is more practical than prayer. Talking with the Lord about your mother, both privately and in her presence, reminds her that she is important and loved. "Lord, thank you for blessing me with my mom. I know sometimes I am not the perfect child. I know I challenge her a lot with my views and actions, but I also know that You have given me to her so she can love me. Lord, I ask for you to comfort her and give her happiness in the areas of her life where she needs You most. Lord, I also ask You to bless me with wisdom, love, and understanding for my mom. I pray that You give me a heart that continues to love my mother and open up my mind to what she wants for me. Let me not take for granted the sacrifices she has made for me. I ask for You to bless me with patience in times when I do not understand, and the openness to show my love for her. Thank you, Lord, for blessing me with my mother. In Your name, Amen."

AGREEMENT ATTRACTS HEAVEN Father, teach us to walk and talk as one before the world. When looking for ways to bring revival and open up the heavens over our nation, we usually champion more prayer, passion, or spiritual pursuit. Though all of these are factors in preparing the way for break though, they are but tools for a greater purpose. I believe in the power of faith-filled prayer. I believe in the force of our passion to stir hearts and shift minds. I believe in the power of our hunger to deepen our relationship with the Lord. But, if we are wondering what will draw the armies of heaven to our aid and compel God’s supernatural intervention into our personal and corporate crises, it is the power of our AGREEMENT that will guarantee a breakthrough. And the Lord said, “Behold, they are ONE people, and they have all ONE language, and this is only the beginning of what they will do. And NOTHING that they propose to do WILL NOW BE IMPOSSIBLE FOR THEM. (Gen 11:6 ESV) When the people began to build the tower of Babel, they had one thing in mind – to make a name for themselves. Their agreement was so powerful, it attracted the attention of heaven and God came down to investigate. Perhaps we can learn from their example. If we want to see the kind of national breakthrough many are praying for, we need to consider the impact of our collective thought and action. What do we talk about and how is heaven hearing us? I would suggest that instead of looking for things to argue and debate about in the public square and on social media, believers would do well to find the things we have in common for Kingdom purposes, rather than talking about what separates us. Heresies, half-truths, and false teachings will continue to rise, but the best way to displace the counterfeits and nullify their power is for the Church to rise up with one unified voice and witness. It is when we start walking and talking in agreement concerning the non-negotiables of our faith that things will truly shift and the seemingly impossible will happen! We can start in our prayer closets and agree with God’s (sometimes painful) sanctifying process in our lives (see Gal 2:20). We can join with our spouse and stand in agreement concerning our family’s destiny (see Prov 1:8-9). We can come into unity with other believers in our cities to see Kingdom ideas come to fruition (see Jer 29:7). And we can find a collective voice in our nation to overturn the confusion and chaos the enemy loves to stir up (Deut 28:1). I believe the biggest move of Holy Spirit that is yet to come will be the result of our corporate alignment in being “one man” and of one mind. They did it at the Tower of Babel and God came down. Though their mission was misplaced, their unity had such great power, it attracted heaven’s intervention. Only let your manner of life be worthy of the gospel of Christ, so that whether I come and see you or am absent, I may hear of you that you are standing firm in one spirit, with one mind striving side by side for the faith of the gospel . . .(Phil 1:27 ESV) In the end, our prayers, passion, and spiritual pursuit are only a means to a greater end. When we start walking as one in perfect agreement with the Father’s heart and purpose, heaven will not only be attracted, but God Himself will command His blessing to fall. Behold, how good and pleasant it is when brothers dwell in unity! … It is like the dew of Hermon, which falls on the mountains of Zion! Father, we also pray for Dr. Ronnie Floyd, for his Spirit-anointed leadership of National Day of Prayer.
